Roundup of 2025!

2025 has been a big year for us and our clients. From establishing legal principles and wins in court through to raising awareness of animal law. We are beyond grateful for the progress we have been able to make.

Some highlights from 2025 include:

1. We brought a planning permission case on behalf of our client Animal Equality and in doing so established the principle that animal welfare can be a material consideration in planning decisions. We are already seeing momentum and improvements for animals in decisions that affect their lives. You can learn more here.

   
   

2. On behalf of our client, The Animal Law Foundation, we were granted permission to judicially review the change in law that dilutes animal welfare standards and allows chickens to be handled by their legs, something which causes significant suffering and is standard practice on chicken farms. You can learn more here. The hearing is in early February 2026.

   
   

3. We won a private prosecution on behalf of our client Animal Justice Project against calf traders who were caught abusing animals. You can learn more here.

   
   

4. We were shortlisted for Specialist Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards, a significant recognition that animal law is gaining the credibility it deserves.

5. We continue to spread the word of Advocates for Animals and our work, which helps raise awareness of animal law and animal legal protections. You can see some coverage here and here.
